The 2016 Monarch Award
The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISMLA) created The Monarch Award: Illinois' K-3 Children's Choice Award in 2003. "The name Monarch was chosen because of its familiarity to K-3 children and to symbolize the growth, change, and freedom that becoming a reader brings. The Monarch is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors, and illustrators."
The students in 2A will be reading the Monarch Award Nominees for 2016.. We will continue to read until it is time to vote for our favorite. The winner will be announced by the ISMLA in the spring of 2016..
